BMW has held the official premiere of the new generation flagship sedan 7-Series. Much of the information about the machine, as well as its appearance, became known previously as a result of leaks.
The internal designation of “Seven” of the new generation – G11 for the standard version and the G12 – for the long wheelbase. Due to the wide use of carbon fiber in the construction of the machine, its weight compared to its predecessor was reduced by about 130 kg depending on the version.
This sedan has become more – body length increased to 5098 mm (+19 mm) and height – up to 1478 mm (7 mm). The width remains the same and is 1902 mm. For the first time in the history of the model of “Seven” it can be equipped with four-wheel drive and chassis polnoupravlyaemym (with thrusters rear wheels).
The car also has the full air suspension with adaptive functions, electrohydraulic stabilizer and the ability to adjust the ground clearance depending on driving mode. All versions of the 7-Series are equipped with an eight, “automaton”.
The most powerful engine in the range is equipped with a modification of the 750i xDrive and its analogue long wheelbase 750Li xDrive. Under the hood of the car in this case is a 4.4-liter V8 with two turbochargers, which develops 450 hp power and 650 Nm of torque. “Hundreds” of such a sedan accelerates in 4.4 seconds.
740i version with a completely new row “six” in volume of three liters (326 hp and 450 Nm) up to speed 100 km / h in 5.5 seconds. The only diesel variant 730d is equipped with a three-liter engine on heavy fuel, which develops 265 hp Power and thrust 650 Nm. Acceleration to “hundreds” will take this “seven” 5.8 seconds.
In addition, the line will be a hybrid version of the 740e with 326-strong unit, which includes a two-liter petrol turbo engine, electric motor and battery pack. Up to 100 km / h hybrid sedan accelerates in 5.5 seconds. The car spends 2.1 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle and can travel a distance of 40 km in all-electric mode.
